Washing Rice (2018) uses markers, pen, and ink to capture stillness in motion. Many asian americans connect to our cultures through food. The practice of washing rice takes only a few moments, and it is a gesture that is learned and taught through generations.

This illustration was a part of my series of nostalgia, Arriving In Between.

Washing Rice has been published in the Open Rivers Journal. It has also been exhibited at Home Keeping/Keeping Home (solo show), Park Square Theatre, and Sib Pauv Zog: a Hmong Cultural Harvest (group show).

A photograph of the black and white nostalgic series, Arriving In Between. There are 6 pieces of artwork capturing moments of my life. Washing Rice is one of them.
