LDR (2023) is a screen print depicting a long distance relationship with an intimate partner. I printed the illustration onto hanji — Korean mulberry paper — and adhered the translucent paper to a folding book (tourist souvenir produced after the Korean War).

The illustrations obscure the book’s original artwork: imagined scenes of daily life in Korea. Instead the panels show a contemporary quotidian scene of queer Asian Americans spending time together across distance. The back of the book remains visible; calligraphy prints from an unknown artist.

LDR has been exhibited at the Sol Koffler Gallery (Providence, RI), SF LGBT Center (San Francisco, CA, forthcoming), DTLA Proud (Los Angeles, CA, forthcoming), and ACCI Gallery (Berkeley, CA, forthcoming).
