Raised by Asian refugees in the United States, I have felt the intergenerational impacts of resisting and fleeing military violence. This trauma especially harms children, women, ethnic minorities, and LGBTQ communities. As an adult, I have friends surviving Myanmar’s military junta since the most recent coup, February 1, 2021.

Dragons Against Dictators (2024) is a painting calling upon the mythical beings’ power, strength, and good fortune in the struggle for sovereignty in Myanmar.

In collaboration with digital activist July and Golden Land Solidarity Collective, we raised $1,200 USD in Dragons Against Dictators print sales, donated to Ta’ang Women’s Organization for their work supporting displaced people in Northern Shan State, Myanmar (2024).
